Stephen Wade Eagle Update

Unfortunately, our friend "The Stephen Wade Eagle" has moved on to soar a much bigger sky. Dr. Jacobson determined that the eagle suffered from a broken back. Because of the inability to rehabilitate a bird from such an injury, the eagle had to be put down. How incredibly lucky we were to be able to see an animal of such magnificence up close. It's struggle to survive will live on in our hearts and in our memories. Soar in Peace.

The "Stephen Wade Eagle"

Kathy Atkins was driving down highway 20 near Bryce Canyon around 7:20 AM when she hit an eagle (appears to be a Golden Eagle). She was passing a semi truck and was unable to swerve and avoid hitting the bird. The eagle was in the road feeding on a carcass.

Kathy wasn't sure whether the bird was alive or not, but decided to drive 2 hours to the Stephen Wade Nissan dealership in St. George. The eagle was caught head first in the grill of her Nissan Titan. When Kathy asked service advisor Brandon Fife to help her get a bird out of her grill, he had no idea what a surprise he was in for. He thought she'd hit a much smaller bird than the eagle. He was even more surprised when he found the bird to be still alive.

Nissan Master Tech Jason Stopper and Brandon initiated the rescue by removing the grill from the Titan. They found the bird to be much more stuck than they anticipated. For the safety of themselves and the eagle, they then called animal control.

Animal control then called the bird expert from the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, Justin Neighbor. Justin has been the Field Technician for Washington County since 1977. Justin rescued the eagle by simply pulling it out. By the time he had arrived at the dealership, the eagle was so exhausted from the struggle that it was calm enough to be removed somewhat easily.

Justin carried the bird to his truck and headed straight to Dr. Bruce L. Jacobson DVM, a local Veterinarian at St. George Regional Veterinary Hospital, to see if the bird could be saved. We are still waiting for word from Dr. Jacobson's office on the progress of the eagle. We do know the bird is currently still alive and wrapped in a towel.

Stay tuned for more updates

Honky Tonk Tailgate Party 08

Stephen Wade Nissan was a proud sponsor of the Honky Tonk Tailgate Party 08!

The concert turned out to be a great success and was just a good ol' fashioned boot-scootin' good time!

The show started out with the announcement of sponsors, performers, etc. The real heart touching moment was when the crowd went crazier for the announcement of our U.S. troops who were there to help out than for any of the performers or sponsors.

The show kicked off with a bang as Ray Scott performed and showed us why he is soon to be seen on the country charts. Ray was followed up by Trent Willimon, another rising up-and-comer.

Things really started to heat up when Buddy Jewell was introduced. Buddy is well known as the first ever winner of the USA Network tv show Nashville Star. Much of the crowd moved up to the front for Buddy's performance. What a honky-tonkin' good time it must have been to be shakin' it right up there in front of the stage with Buddy Jewell rockin' like crazy!

After Buddy won the crowd over with his performance, the headliner, Mark Willis came out and blew everyone's boots clean off! What a great performer! Mark had the crowd participate and sing along to the popular Don't Laugh at Me. He also played super hits like 19 Somethin' . Mark had much of the audience in tears and embrace during his also stirring performance of I Do (Cherish You).

Dealership attendees included Jeff (Daddy) and his daughter Savannah as well as myself (Josh) and my wife (Meisha). We were joined towards the end by our Spanish speakers, Sal and Ricardo.

Savannah got to experience her very first concert (back stage even!) and was able to get some pictures with the musicians as well as some autographs.

We had the chance to snap a few photos of the cars and the stars! Here they are below. What a good time it was to shake out Honky Tonk Badonkadonks in the name of Stephen Wade!
