We are so stoked!

Nissan has created a brand new Krom package for the 2010 Nissan Rogue! The Krom package looks awesome on the Cube and now we've got a sweet-looking Rogue coming too. We love the subtle GT-R inspired cues in the new front fascia. If you're interested in more info on one of these, contact us today!

The following is a press release from Nissan regarding the new 2010 Nissan Rogue Krom edition:
Nissan Adds New Rogue Krōm Edition, Featuring Sporty
Styling, Exclusive 17-Inch Wheels, Sport-Tuned Exhaust

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2009) – Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today
announced the latest addition to its Krōm specialty vehicles lineup, the 2010 Nissan
Rogue Krōm edition, which is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide in
December 2009. The new Rogue Krōm edition is designed to offer a unique
dimension to traditional compact sport utility vehicles with its aggressive sport
styling, exclusive 17-inch wheels and a center-exit sport-tuned exhaust. Nissan also
offers a Krōm edition of the popular Nissan cube®.

The limited production Rogue Krōm edition is available in both front-wheel and allwheel
drive configurations and in just three exterior colors – Venom Red, Wicked
Black and Gotham Gray.

Built on the solid foundation of the Rogue S, the Krōm edition adds 17-inch brilliant
finish aluminum-alloy wheels with P225/60R Continental Conti 4x4 Contact tires and
a unique grille embedded in the aggressive front fascia with integrated fog lights. In
the rear, the Rogue Krōm edition includes a boldly styled sport fascia with integrated
center-exit exhaust, a body-colored rear spoiler and rear privacy glass. Bodycolored
power outside mirrors, a Krōm emblem and steering wheel-mounted audio
controls complete the Krōm equipment modifications.

“The new Krōm edition expands Rogue’s already strong appeal, bringing its
unmistakable sporty and active design to buyers seeking to stand out from the crowd
of ordinary compact SUVs,” said Pat Steiner, director, Specialty Vehicles Group, NNA.
“Just as our NISMO models add enhanced performance straight from the factory, the
Krōm lineup offers intriguing, customized design right off the showroom floor.”
Based at NNA headquarters in Franklin, Tenn., the Specialty Vehicles Group was
formed in August 2006 to develop niche derivatives of Nissan vehicles.

“Krōm adds a level of style and appearance, along with a sense of intrigue,
excitement and self-expression. The Krōm name suggests ‘cars with attitude,’ rather
than a literal interpretation of chrome wheels or trim,” added Steiner. “We leverage
our speed and flexibility in bringing exciting new products to market – faster and for
less than ‘mainstream’ models.”

About the 2010 Nissan Rogue

40th Anniversary 370Z Is Coming!

The following letter was sent from Nissan to all U.S. Nissan dealers: (click here for larger wallpaper version)

Forty years ago this month, the Z car made its introduction to the North American market. Delivering world-class performance, the original Datsun 240Z was stylish and affordable – with a purchase price of just $3,626. The Z has changed throughout the years, and through its six generations it has solidified itself as an iconic sports car. And its value formula, strengthened by its unmatched performance, style and segment leadership, remains stronger than ever.

To honor the original 240Z and commemorate the outstanding heritage of the Z, Nissan is proud to announce the introduction of a 40th Anniversary Z. Available in spring of 2010, the 40th Z will be a limited edition model of 1,000 units. The objectives of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Z with this special edition are to:

• reinforce Nissan’s historical commitment to performance, design and value

• appeal to enthusiasts who appreciate the strong heritage of the Z

• create demand and “pride of ownership” through a unique spec offering

The 40th Anniversary model will be a single spec model based on the Touring 6M/T trim with Sport Package, and it will include the following unique features:

• exterior: premium and unique exterior color (40th Graphite), premium smoke wheel finish, red brake calipers and 40th badging on the rear deck lid

• interior: red leather seats with 40th logo embossed, red door panel inserts, red stitching on console, smooth leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, premium quality floor mats embroidered with the 40th logo and 40th Anniversary plaques located on the interior of the vehicle and on the strut tower brace in the engine compartment

• customer amenities: special fitted car cover with 40th Anniversary embroidery, congratulatory letter from NNA executive and professional portfolio to display a certificate of ownership

40th Anniversary edition pricing will be announced at a time closer to start of sales. Allocation of the 40th will be based strictly on twelve month Z coupe and roadster sales ending October ‘09; dealers should begin to see their allocation volumes in November ’09. The anniversary models will be built in January ’10 and should be available for retail sale in the spring of 2010.

Here’s to the 40th,

No Shifting? How does that work? CVT Explained:

Have you ever wondered how Nissan CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) works? I found this great video on YouTube showing and animated version of the transmission. Hopefully it helps clarify a few things.

The basic explanation of the transmission is this: First, it has no gears. Instead, it has a belt that runs between two pulleys, offering an infinite gear ratio adjustments. To adjust the ratios, the belt moves up and down each of the two pulleys (similar to the way a bicycle chain moves, but much smoother). The transmission offers better gas milage, faster acceleration and literally NO shift-shock.

Nissan has offered the CVT since 2003 on the Murano. It performed so well in the Murano that in 2007, Nissan added it to the Versa (SL HB Model), Sentra, Altima and Maxima. It is also now available in the Rogue and the Cube.

Nissan to make electric cars in Tenn. with fed help

Source: The Detroit News

Nissan Motor Co. will start making electric cars in the United States in 2012 with the help of a $1.6 billion loan provided by the U.S. government to encourage automakers to produce cleaner and more fuel-efficient vehicles.
Nissan plans to produce electric cars at its Smyrna, Tenn., assembly plant, powered by lithium-ion batteries that will be built at a new facility on the site.

The Japanese automaker plans to start selling electric cars in the United States next year and has lined up partnerships with several state and local governments and utilities to establish charging stations.

Nissan will initially import electric cars from Japan, but expects to have the capacity eventually to make 150,000 electric cars a year in Tennessee, said Dominique Thormann, senior vice president for administration and finance at Nissan North America.

With two assembly plants in the United States, Nissan was eligible to apply to the Department of Energy's $25 billion loan program for manufacturers producing vehicles in the United States.

"This loan ... will help us put high-quality, affordable zero-emissions vehicles on our roads," Thormann said.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn wants the Renault-Nissan alliance to be a leader in offering zero-emission vehicles. Nissan has not shown the electric car it plans to sell next year but says it will seat five comfortably and run for 100 miles on a single charge.

Cash for Clunkers Info

Many people have been asking us about the "Cash for Clunkers" bill. I've decided to write this post to help answer the questions. For those of you who don't know, here's the low-down on the bill- It was designed for several reasons, 1) To help get gas-guzzling vehicles and older vehicles off the road to help reduce emissions and waste. 2) Decrease the U.S. demand for gasoline and oil, thereby decreasing the dependency on foreign oil. 3) To help boost the number of new vehicle sales in the struggling automotive industry. 4) To help consumers more easily purchase a new vehicle and get rid of their old car.

The "Cash for Clunkers" bill was passed by Congress on June 18th. At this time, we are waiting for the bill to be signed by President Obama. As soon as the bill is signed, it will take up to 30 days to take effect.

If you have questions regarding "Cash for Clunkers", you're welcome to contact me (Josh) through any of the following means.

FACT SHEET: CASH FOR CLUNKERS
Committee on Energy and Commerce

The House of Representatives will soon consider Rep. Sutton’s CARS (Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save) Act (H.R. 2460). The legislation is based on an agreement reached by Reps. Waxman, Markey, Dingell, Sutton, Inslee, and Stupak that passed the Committee in May by a vote of 50-4 as an amendment to the American Clean Energy and Security (ACES) climate legislation.

Under the program, consumers may trade in their old, gas-guzzling vehicles and receive vouchers worth up to $4,500 to help pay for new, more fuel efficient cars and trucks. The program will be authorized for up to one year and provide for approximately one million new car or truck purchases. The agreement divides these new cars and trucks into four categories. Miles per gallon figures below refer to EPA “window sticker” values.

  • Passenger Cars: The old vehicle must get 18 mpg or less. New passenger cars with mileage of at least 22 mpg are eligible for vouchers. If the mileage of the new car is at least 4 mpg higher than the old vehicle, the voucher will be worth $3,500. If the mileage of the new car is at least 10 mpg higher than the old vehicle, the voucher will be worth $4,500.
  • Light-Duty Trucks: The old vehicle must get 18 mpg or less. New light trucks or SUVs with mileage of at least 18 mpg are eligible for vouchers. If the mileage of the new truck or SUV is at least 2 mpg higher than the old truck, the voucher will be worth $3,500. If the mileage of the new truck or SUV is at least 5 mpg higher than the old truck, the voucher will be worth $4,500.
  • Large Light-Duty Trucks: New large trucks (pick-up trucks and vans weighing between 6,000 and 8,500 pounds) with mileage of at least 15 mpg are eligible for vouchers. If the mileage of the new truck is at least 1 mpg higher than the old truck, the voucher will be worth $3,500. If the mileage of the new truck is at least 2 mpg higher than the old truck, the voucher will be worth $4,500.
  • Work Trucks: Under the agreement, consumers can trade in a pre-2002 work truck (defined as a pick-up truck or cargo van weighing from 8,500-10,000 pounds) and receive a voucher worth $3,500 for a new work truck in the same or smaller weight class. There will be a finite number of these vouchers, based on this vehicle class’s market share. There are no EPA mileage measures for these trucks; however, because newer models are cleaner than older models, the age requirement ensures that the trade will improve environmental quality. Consumers can also “trade down,” receiving a $3,500 voucher for trading in an older work truck and purchasing a smaller light-duty truck weighing from 6,000 – 8,500 pounds.
